WE ARE BACK—ANNOUNCING THE 2021 SPRING/SUMMER SEASON

Dear Loyal Subscribers:

Here it is—our highly anticipated announcement of the exciting 2021 season! We are grateful for your patience over these many months while we’ve gathered information about how, when and under what conditions we can re-open.

These extraordinary times call for remarkable innovation, so we’ve thoughtfully examined the challenges and possibilities, always with your safety in mind. Built on the cornerstone programs that define SCR, this season will meet the unique needs of our community at this time while providing the thrilling theatre experiences you’ve come to expect. We promised you that “the show will go on,” and here’s how:

  • We start digitally with SCRemote. Performances early in the lineup will be offered exclusively in digital format. Expect high quality film productions created with a multi-camera setup by award-winning cinematic artists, delivered to the safety of your home through a user-friendly streaming platform. Online offerings include Red Riding Hood (perfect for young audiences and families) and the Pacific Playwrights Festival, our annual showcase of new plays and talented playwrights.

  • Then we switch to LIVE—in-person performances—outdoors. In mid-July, we’re taking live theatre outdoors to the Mission San Juan Capistrano, with a new series called Outside SCR. Just imagine: two family-friendly productions outside, under the stars, in the beautiful surroundings of the Mission. We intend to make this an annual tradition. The 2021 productions? American Mariachi, which we’re bringing back by popular demand, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

  • Theatre à la Carte. Usually you subscribe by series—Segerstrom Stage, Julianne Argyros Stage and Theatre for Young Audiences Family Series. For 2021, we’re temporarily suspending those series in favor of “à la carte” subscriptions. You’re invited to experience the entire lineup or pick and choose the plays you want to see. Your regular series will return for the 2021-22 season.

  • Finally, we’re remaining flexible. You’ll notice that some performance dates are listed in our brochure and others have target periods like “mid-to-late April.” These are our best predictions at this time. Rest assured that as soon as these dates are solidified, you will be the first to know. And if they need to change, you’ll know that too.

We invite you to look through the enclosed brochure, choose your plays and order by April 19. As always, our box office is ready to take your questions or assist in any way. Call the subscriber hotline at (714) 708-5599.

Thank you for sticking with us—and joining us in this invigorating leap forward.

Sincerely,

David Ivers
