Committee Meeting
During the “dark” days of summer, SCR’s stages are bare—just perfect for a meeting of the full Gala committee.

GALA COMMITTEE PRAISED
BY CHAIRMAN JEAN WEISS
AT MEETING ON ARGYROS STAGE

By Ann Conway

In her usual generous and upbeat style, a smiling SCR Gala Chair Jean Weiss praised her committee for their acts of “love and kindness" when she presided over a general meeting held July 9 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. "I've been motivated by members of this committee and their devotion to the theater and our gala," she said.

The Sept. 6 celebration at the St. Regis Resort Monarch Bay—marking SCR's 45th season—will sparkle in jewel-tone shades of blue, green and purple with glittering silver accents. The mouth-watering cuisine will feature four appetizers and multi-item offerings in each of its three gourmet courses. And John Tu's California Dreamin' orchestral band will create the same brand of high-voltage entertainment it displayed at last year's Gala, thrilling guests with a variety of swingin' dance tunes and pro singing talents impersonating pop superstars.

Meanwhile, SCR patrons who have purchased tickets of $1500 and up to attend "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (a tribute to the seasonal timing of SCR Artistic Directors David Emmes and Martin Benson’s dream to create one of America's finest regional theatres) will enjoy SCR's annual Patron Party on Aug. 14 at the breathtaking Laguna Beach home of Pam and Jim Muzzy.

We can't wait!
